چکیده

Abstract A review of the existing literature shows that modern pulsed eddy current (PEC) technique for flaw detection in aircraft structure inspection is typically carried out aperiodic mode. ?t same time, unstable characteristic points EC signal usually used as informative parameters can restrict potential this excitation mode due to significant measurement errors. This article considers an advanced PEC method NDT based on oscillatory To obtain conditions concerned with different modes probe response oscillations, equivalent scheme “testing object – probe” system was developed and analyzed. The frequency attenuation coefficient natural oscillations are proposed signals. obtained mathematical model signals allows dependence characteristics testing be evaluated. Herein, we first develop algorithmic software determining analyzing discrete amplitude phase simulation results. errors determination well optimal time its analyzed order minimize possible Next, experimentally investigated using a set specimens. results confirm possibility methodology enhance procedures related electrical conductivity geometric measurements detected defect sizing.

Eddy Current Rail Inspection Using AC Bridge Techniques

AC bridge techniques commonly used for precision impedance measurements have been adapted to develop an eddy current sensor for rail defect detection. By using two detection coils instead of just one as in a conventional sensor, we can balance out the large baseline signals corresponding to a normal rail. We have significantly enhanced the detection sensitivity of the eddy current method by det...

Signal Reconstruction and Feature Extraction of Pulsed Eddy Current Thermography for Aerospace Composites

Pulsed eddy current (PEC) stimulated thermography is proposed as a powerful non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technique, allowing the operator to observe the heating developed from the eddy current distribution in a structure using infrared imaging, detecting defects over a relatively wide area within a short time. Some defects (impact, delamination, disbond or crack) commonly occur in aerospace...

Stress Measurement Using Pulsed Eddy Current Thermography

This paper reports a noncontact inspection method, using Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) stimulated thermography, for the evaluation of the anisotropic dependency of electrical conductivity of steel exposed to tensile stress. This method combines microscope lens based thermography with PEC using a rectangular excitation coil, giving directional excitation, to infer the electromagnetic properties vari...
